
Police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 5:25 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2025 to a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and a minivan at Golf Road and Goebbert Road in Arlington Heights. Police officers arrived first on the scene and reported critical injuries and also requested paramedics to expedite to the scene. Initially, the victim was reported conscious, but when paramedics arrived, the motorcycle rider was unconscious.
The motorcyclist, identified as Jeffrey Tanafranca, age 44 of Mundelein, was transported to an undisclosed hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:03 p.m.
Preliminary police investigation indicates the driver of a black 2017 Toyota Sienna minivan was traveling westbound on Golf Road, and attempted to make a left turn to travel southbound on Goebbert Road. The left turn in front of the motorcyclist caused the crash which resulted in a fatality, according to preliminary information.
The woman, age 48 of Waukegan, who was the sole occupant of the Toyota minivan, was westbound on Golf Road and made a left turn with a green light to travel southbound on Goebbert Road in front of the oncoming motorcycle. Jeffrey Tanafranca was traveling eastbound on Golf Road with a green light.
The Major Case Assistance Team – Serious Accident Traffic Reconstruction (MCAT-STAR) personnel was assigned to the scene to assist the Arlington Heights Police Department.

(1/2 mile East of Milwaukee Ave.) Niles. There will be a service both Saturday and Sunday at 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at All Saints Parish (St. Isaac Jogues Church), 8149 W. Golf Rd., Niles, Lying in State from 9:00 am until time of Mass at 10:00 am. A procession to Acacia Park Cemetery will follow the Mass- cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers donations to the family would be appreciated.
