Police officers from the Village of Wheeling responded Friday night, August 8, 2025 to assist Des Plaines Police Department in a search for a suspect wanted for a homicide investigation near Holmes Middle School on Wolf Road south of Dundee Road in Wheeling.
The suspect wanted in connection with a homicide investigation was taken into custody during a neighbohood-wide shelter-in-place order by the Wheeling Police Department. The shelter-in-place order was lifted by about 10:45 p.m.
There was an increased police presence at Holmes Middle School, 221 South Wolf Road in Wheeling, and in the surrounding neighborhood as Wheeling Police Department was supporting the Des Plaines Police Department in their efforts to locate a suspect connected to a homicide investigation. The suspect, described as a male Hispanic, was last seen wearing a black shirt, gray shorts, black shoes, and was carrying a white hat, according to the Wheeling Police Department.
Wheeling Police Department ordered citizens to remain indoors “until further notice” at about 9:56 p.m. Friday. Wheeling police said, “If you see someone matching this description, please call 911.”
The Wheeling Police Department statement indicated there would be additional updates as they become available, but when the suspect was apprehended, the police department indicated there would be no additional updates.
