Arlington Heights police received a report about 10:16 AM Tuesday July 29, 2025 of a stolen auto in the block of 315 North Salem Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report from the victim that an unknown offender or offenders stole his silver Hyundai from the parking lot of an apartment complex on Salem Avenue near Eastman Street just north of the Arlington Heights public works facility.
The crime is reported to have occurred between Monday, July 28, 2025 at 10:55 PM and Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 10:15 AM. The elapsed time range including the time the crime could have occurred is 11:20 (hours: minutes).
The reported auto theft crime occurred three days after a man was shot in the face in Arlington Heights (unincorporated) during an apparent attempted auto theft on the victim’s driveway.
The auto theft also occurred about one week after the Arlington Heights Police Department warned residents on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 of an auto theft outbreak in the month of July 2025. Residents were warned by the police department that vehicles manufactured by Hyundai and Kia were primarily targeted.
