A man exited his home about 3:18 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2025 when he heard his car alarm activate during an attempted auto theft on his driveway at the northwest corner of Galesburg Avenue and Nichols Road in unincorporated Arlington Heights. Apparently, during an encounter with offenders in front of his home, the man was shot in the face, and the offenders involved in the attempted auto theft fled the scene.
Cook County Sheriff’s deputies, Arlington Heights police officers, and firefighters and paramedics from Long Grove Fire Protection District responded about 3:24 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2025 to a report of a gunshot victim in the block of 3900 Galesburg Avenue in unincorporated Arlington Heights. Law enforcement officers responded to the call for help and discovered a gunshot victim with life-threatening injuries in front of his home. A white Chevrolet Corvette was on the driveway with interior lights on and the driver’s door open, and a black pickup truck was parked behind the Corvette. Law enforcement officers determined the scene was secure, and paramedics moved up to administer Advanced Life Support to a man who was shot in the face.
Paramedics from Long Grove Fire Protection District transported the gunshot victim with life-threatening injuries to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with extra crew members on board the ambulance.
A witness in the neighborhood woke up to hearing four gunshots at 3:18 a.m. The shooting occurred in a neighborhood of single-family homes of unincorporated Arlington Heights, a couple of blocks from the border with the Village of Arlington Heights.
Cook County Sheriff’s Police are investigating the crime scene Friday morning.
