The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Group (SIG), a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) funded task force, concluded an investigation that resulted in the arrest of a Waukegan male adult for drug trafficking.
SIG began the investigation after developing information that Agustin Arias, Jr., age 41, of the block of 900 Woodlawn Avenue, Waukegan, was selling narcotics. SIG detectives initiated an undercover operation and discovered Arias was selling cocaine in Lake County.
During the investigation, Arias sold drugs to undercover detectives several times, within 500 feet of an elementary school. On Thursday, July 17, 2025, sheriff’s detectives took Arias into custody, following a traffic stop.
After reviewing the facts and circumstances of the investigation, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the charges of three counts of delivery of a controlled substance within 500 feet of a school.
The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office filed a petition to detain Arias in custody while awaiting trial. The petition was granted by the Court following a detention hearing.
Arias remains in the Lake County Jail. His next scheduled court date is August 6, 2025, at 1:30PM in courtroom T020.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
