Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 arrested 29-year-old Reginald McGee from Chicago, Illinois for one count of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 Felony) and one count of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Class 4 Felony) related to an expressway alleged shooting on Interstate 290/Illinois Route 53. ISP officers responded about 7:55 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2025 to a reported expressway shooting on Interstate 290 westbound near Golf Road.
I-290 West runs concurrently with northbound Illinois Route 53 at Golf Road near Schaumburg.

Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Class 4 Felony)
Allegedly, the victim’s vehicle was shot at by the driver of another vehicle. No injuries were reported from this incident. After an exhaustive investigation, agents identified a suspect vehicle and suspect. Later on Friday, July 18, 2025, ISP agents took Reginald McGee into custody. Agents presented their case to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the above-mentioned charges were filed against McGee. McGee is being held pending his first court appearance. There is no further information.
