Police, firefighters and paramedics from Mundelein responded about 4:58 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025 to a report of a vehicle crash into a house with injuries in the block of 1400 Kessler Drive in Mundelein.
The driver of a black late model 4-sedan — likely a Mercedes — hit one house front porch, then crashed directly into the supporting front right corner of the attached garage of a home.

A man was injured on a front porch of his home, and was transported to a nearby hospital. The wife of the male trauma victim who was injured on his porch explained that her husband was sitting on his porch, and that the driver of the car was speeding before the crash. The man may have been injured by flying debris from the crash.

A MABAS Division 4 Box Alarm #43-53 for Technical Rescue Technicians was activated at 5:46 p.m. The technicians provided structural stability expertise and worked to stabilize hazards caused by the crash damage.

The Mundelein Police Department did not provide any information on the crash, or indicate whether there were any charges were pending or existing, but recently on July 17, 2025 the Mundelein Police Department put out a release about speeding, entitled “speeding catches up with you.”
The Mundelein Police Department stated on July 17, 2025, just two days before Saturday’s crash, “(O)ver the past few years, we have seen an increase in careless and risky driving. No matter how safe a driver you think you may be, speeding is dangerous,” said Sergeant Waites. “Speeding creates unnecessary risk for all motorists, reducing the driver’s ability to steer safely around other vehicles, hazardous, objects or unexpected curves.”
The Mundelein Police Department announced on July 17, 2025 that the department is partnering with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the Illinois State Police, and more than 200 local enforcement agencies to step up traffic safety efforts across the state to reduce speeding. Throughout the month of July, motorist can expect increased patrols, looking for speeding, as well as other traffic violations. During the speed limit enforcement campaign, officers will intensify enforcement of posted speed limits. Offenders will be stopped and ticketed, with additional attention given to locations experiencing a higher frequency of speed related crashes. Drivers can expect a ticket from the Mundelein Police Department if they are spotted speeding. The goal is to save lives. Stepped up patrols are occurring throughout the state July 8 to July 31, 2025. The speed enforcement effort is part of the “Speeding catches up with you” campaign and is made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by IDOT. The program also supports IDOT’s broader, “It’s not a game” media campaign.
