Wheeling police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:03 PM Wednesday man down after being shot in the Winetree Apartment Complex in the block of 400 Pleasant Run Drive Wheeling, IL. Rafael Orozco was found shot to death Wednesday night outside one of the apartment buildings in the Winetree Apartments complex in Wheeling.
Investigators from the Wheeling Police Department and the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force were investigating at the scene Thursday. Multiple shots were fired at the scene.
Orozco was found with a gunshot wound to his chest, and was transported to Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, where he was pronounced dead at 9:50 p.m.
There were no reports of anyone hearing anything suspicious before the shooting. Orozco was walking his dog where he has lived at Winetree for eight years.
No suspects were in custody as of Thursday afternoon, police said.
