Missing Person’s Body Found in Fox River After Missing Woman Last Seen Near Jewel-Osco in Algonquin

The Algonquin Police Department announced at 12:04 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2022 that a body fitting the description of Kimberly Koerner was located, and the body has been received by the Kane County Coroner’s office for official identification.

The Algonquin Police Department stated that the department would like to thank everyone for calling in, and the tips that came to us in regards to our communities’ missing person, Kimberly Koerner.

A body was found about 8:17 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2022 in the Fox River near Bolz Road and Williams Road in Dundee Township near Carpentersville. A citizen reported that a body was found under water in the Fox River near the intersection of Bolz Road and Williams Road at the south end of the parking lot next to the river. A caller reported the discovery, and firefighters and divers responded to the scene.

The body of Kimberly Koerner was recovered by Carpentersville firefighters and divers from the Fox River about 8:40 a.m.

The location where the body was found is less than 1 1/2 mile from the Jewel-Osco where Kimberly Koerner was last seen, and the location in the Fox River. The distance is about a 26-minute walk.

She was also sighted on a security camera in a neighborhood south of the Jewel-Osco on Sunday morning.

The Algonquin Police Department announced at 2:33 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2022 that they are seeking assistance from the public to help locate a missing woman, after the woman’s family called 9-1-1 about 11:00 Sunday morning to report her missing.

Kimberly Koerner, age 52, was last seen Sunday morning about 9:00 a.m. walking away from the Jewel food store, 1501 East Algonquin Road in Algonquin, according to the Algonquin Police Department. She was going to Jewel-Osco for an errand, but a report indicates she never entered the Jewel-Osco store, but her image was later captured on a security camera south of the Jewel-Osco.

There is also a announcement from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office that Kimberly Koerner was observed on a surveillance camera in the area of Sandbloom Road and Souwanas Trail, which is south of the Algonquin Jewel-Osco at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Sunday December 4, 2022.

She was wearing a white winter jacket with fur and pajama bottoms of unknown color. She is approximately 5’6″ 130 LBS with black, straight, shoulder-length hair.
