Minneapolis police are investigating after a shooting in the Uptown area left one person dead and 11 others injured overnight. The incident was one of many reported shootings overnight, Marielle Mohs reports (WCCO CBS Minnesota).
Police and firefighter/paramedics from Minneapolis responded about 12:27 a.m. Sunday June 21, 2020 to a report of shots fired and people shot in the block of 2900 Hennepin Avenue South in Minneapolis.
The 11 survivors suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to the Minneapolis Police Department. There were no arrests, and a motive was not initially known. Witness at the shooting scene said at least two groups of people were shooting at each other.
Hennepin Avenue South was also the scene of looting and destruction when violence was involved with protests against police brutality following the death of George Floyd, who was killed while being restrained by a Minneapolis police officer.
Shattered windows from shots fired overnight involved windows of businesses that were just repaired following the violent protests. The shooting scene is located about 3.5 miles west of the location of the police precinct that was abandoned at Lake Street and Minnehaha Avenue.
One man was killed and 11 people were wounded when gunfire erupted in a Minneapolis business district, police said (Fox News includes police radio communications, not 9-1-1 calls).
