Garoppolo

Jimmy Garoppolo grew up in Arlington Heights, Illinois and attended Rolling Meadows High School. Garoppolo played football and basketball for the Rolling Meadows Mustangs. Garoppolo was a star quarterback at Eastern Illinois University — breaking Tony Romo’s school records for career passing touchdowns, career passing yards, and passing touchdowns in a season. Garoppolo was drafted in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots, and was backup quarterback to Tom Brady in two Super Bowls. However, he got little playing time during his time in New England. Garoppolo was traded by the Patriots to the 49ers in October 2017, and was credited with playing a big part in turning the 49ers football program toward success.

Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes grew up in Whitehouse, Texas and attended Whitehouse High School. He played baseball as well as football, but decided to concentrate on football for his Junior year at Texas Tech.

In the Week 16 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football December 22, 2019 at Soldier Field, Mahomes celebrated the victory by counting to 10 on his fingers, symbolizing that he was the 10th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft when the Chicago Bears could have drafted him second pick instead of Mitchell Trubisky, who was drafted in the first round.

The Chiefs lost to the New England Patriots in overtime 31–37 in the AFC Championship game on Sunday, January 20, 2020.
