Chicago White Sox Lose to Tampa Bay Rays 9-1 with Fifth Straight Home Game Loss

The Chicago White Sox lost their fifth consecutive game Wednesday, April 10, 2019. Their 3-8 W/L marks the team’s worst opening since 1997. The Tampa Bay Rays swept the series in Chicago 3-0.

The game’s start was delayed 1 hour, 39 minutes because of a mix of sleet and rain. Air temperatures was 38 degrees. The crowd was announced at 11,107, but the stands looked mostly empty.

Tampa Bay’s Tommy Pham hit two home runs and extended his on-base streak to a club record 45 games.

Tampa Bay’s Austin Meadows hit a single, double, and home run; and totaled three RBIs.

The White Sox face the Yankees in New York on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 6:05 p.m.
