Wheeling police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:37 AM Friday March 15, 2019 to a report of a car fire at Sienna Court and Geneva Drive Wheeling, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a car fire on Sienna Court west of Geneva Drive. During response, the firefighters received a report that the burning car was parked close to the townhouse building. The fire response was then upgraded to Code 3 structure fire response, and Prospect Heights firefighters were called in to assist automatically. Within minutes heavy black smoke was visible from the fire scene.
Battalion Chief 24 reported seeing a lot of smoke while responding at about 10:41 a.m. Police were first on the scene and reported at 10:43 a.m. that the car was fully-involved, but that the structure was not burning.
By 10:45 a.m. fire command reported heavy fire on the first and second floor of the townhouse, and the fire response was immediately upgraded to a working fire response. Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, and Mount Prospect firefighters, and additional Prospect Heights firefighters were added to the call.
The fire response was upgraded to a MABAS Box Alarm by 11:16 a.m. (Box 2302).
One person was transported to a local hospital about noon.
The Box Alarm was struck out at 11:53 a.m.
