Upon arrival police and firefighters found a vehicle had gone off the road and was on its side against a tree near Raceway Woods Forest Preserve.

During extrication of the sole occupant of the vehicle, firefighter/paramedics had to lift the vehicle to get the driver out from underneath the car, according to Carpentersville Police Department.

The Kane County coroner was called to the scene to take the driver, who was pronounced dead, from the scene, police said.

The dead driver’s identity was released Wednesday as Ray Altamirano, age 24, of Carpentersville.
