Pasco County Fire Rescue Demonstrates “Frying a Turkey Safely” on WFLA Just North of Tampa

#ad▼

WFLA’s Jana Jones interviews Pasco County Division Fire Chief Shawn Whited on the hazards of frying a turkey with a turkey fryer.

Highlights to remember …

Don’t overfill the fryer with oil.

Make sure turkey is completely thawed.

Make sure the oil isn’t too hot.

In addition read the manufacturer’s instructions and follow the instructions carefully.

Users of a turkey fryer should always have a dry chem fire extinguisher on standby, and water should never be used to extinguish an oil fire.

The turkey fryer should not be placed in enclosures (no porches or garages) or not even too close to enclosures. The fryer should be in an open area.
