Lake Zurich Firefighters Order Extra Alarm House Fire on Sumac Court in Deer Park

Lake Zurich Fire Rescue and Lake County Sheriff deputies responded 9:06 AM Sunday to a report of a basement fire in the 21400 block of Sumac Court. Firefighters received a report that residents in the home smelled smoke. First arrival crews reported smoke showing out the front of the house. The fire, discovered in a sectional couch in the basement, was extinguished within 15 minutes.

Lake Zurich firefighters were assisted by firefighters from Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Cary, Countryside, Deerfield, Fox River Grove, Lake Villa, Libertyville, Long Grove, Nunda, Wauconda and Wheeling as part of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) agreement.

One firefighter from Lake Zurich received a minor injury while fighting the fire, but immediate transportation to a hospital was not required.
