Elk Grove Village police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:29 PM Friday to a truck vs. pedestrian incident on Elmhurst Road, just north of Landmeier Road. Police received a report that a man was lying in the median after being hit by a semi-trailer truck and was suffering a head injury. Police arrived first on the scene and reported the victim was apparently killed by the incident. Firefighter/paramedics were at the scene for about 35 minutes.

Witnesses reported that the man ran into the street from the curb where the Comfort Inn is located and continued to run in front of a southbound semi-trailer truck.

Elk Grove Village police worked an Accident Investigation scene until about 2:00 a.m. Saturday. Southbound Elmhurst Road was shut down at Oakton Street, and the ramp from westbound Interstate 90 to southbound Elmhurst Road was closed during the investigation. Northbound Elmhurst Road was also blocked during investigation with possibly one lane open at times.
