12 injured (8 Critical) in Charter Bus Crash on I-80 Near Wayne, New Jersey

A tour bus from Canada carrying about 60 people bound for a New York City church event overturned on a highway exit ramp in northern New Jersey and slid down an embankment early Saturday, injuring about 12 people.

Firefighters and police responded to an early morning rollover crash with extrication involving a charter bus accident at Exit 53 off of Interstate 80 East. The bus en route from Toronto to Brooklyn rolled down an embankment.

Twenty-three people were transported to several area hospitals.

New Jersey State Police troopers were assisted by Cedar Grove ambulance and Rescue Squad, Lincoln Park EMS, Montville Volunteer First Aid Squad, Paterson Fire Department, Pompton Lakes-Riverdale First Aid Squad, Verona Rescue Squad, West Essex First Aid Squad, and several others. State Police cruisers were also on the scene.
