Investigation of a fall from an apartment window on Miner Street, Arlington Heights.
Arlington Heights police Sunday September 30, 2018 released the identity of an Arlington Heights woman who died on Miner Street between Evergreen Avenue and Arlington Heights Road after she fell from her apartment window at Hancock Square at Arlington Station, 200 North Arlington Heights Road.
Mary Lawlor, a resident of 200 North Arlington Heights Road was discovered Saturday morning about 11:33 a.m. Saturday September 29, 2018 at ground level near the loading dock doors of the large 11-story apartment building on the south side of Miner Street. Mary Lawlor was pronounced dead at 11:36 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office reported Sunday September 30, 2018 that Lawlor died as a result of multiple injuries from the fall. Her death was ruled an accident.
Upon arrival, Arlington Heights police secured a perimeter, and immediately began the investigation of the death of a 78-year-old woman, who police say was the victim of an accidental fall from her apartment window.
Arlington Heights Police Department investigated the scene most of Saturday afternoon, and found no indications of foul play. The Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT) crime scene van and a crew were not dispatched to the scene. Vehicle traffic was blocked on Miner Street between Evergreen Avenue and Arlington Heights Road, but pedestrian traffic was allowed on the sidewalk on the north side of Miner Street.
Police believe that Lawlor was alone at the time of the fall. A window screen was damaged from her 4th floor apartment window along the second row of windows above the large 2-story overhead garage doors for the apartment loading dock. Police measured the distance from the damaged window screen to the ground below, where blood was visible at the site where she fell. Police believe Mary Lawlor fell from that window opening. The damaged window screen was also visible from the street, and from the parking garage across the street.
