Retail Theft Suspect at Walmart on Rand Road, Palatine

Palatine police responded about 9:13 p.m. Monday to a report of possible retail theft in progress at the Walmart, 1550 North Rand Road. Police received a report that an adult couple with a small child were opening merchandise and putting the merchandise in a purse.

The offenders were described as a male/black, wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt, and a female/white with red hair, wearing a blue coat and black slacks. The couple were with a 3-year-old child. Security was watching the suspects while police waited outside. The suspects were investigated as they left the store about 9:30 p.m. and taken into custody. Confirmed the male was taken into custody and transported to Palatine Police Department Headquarters. No word on the status of the woman and the child.
