Frank Kehoe Killed in Small Plane Crash at Olson Airport in Western Elgin

Pingree Grove Fire & Countryside Fire Protection District firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:00 p.m. Sunday to a report of a small plane crash at Olson Airport — a private airport at 9n733 Kendall Road, Elgin.

Firefighters reported the plane was on its roof and the pilot was trapped in the plane. No report of any fire or other victims. See Daily Herald photos …

Firefighters from Burlington Community Fire Protection District also responded to the crash.

According to the FAA Registry, the aircraft N61XT Certification Status was terminated. See FAA Registry N61XT. the Light Sport aircraft by Skykits Corporation was list as having been sold to NORTHERN ILLINOIS ROTER CRAFT CLUB. An alert on the FAA website stated the following: “This aircraft’s registration status may not be suitable for operation. Please contact the Aircraft Registration Branch at 1-866-762-9434 for additional information.”
