Rolling Meadows police responded about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a burglary in progress in the 2200 block of Kirchoff, near Wilke. Police received a report that several subjects entered a vacant home, and a dark-colored car was parked in the driveway.

Police arrived within two minutes and found a car running in the driveway with the lights on. Police reported an unknown number of subjects in the house, and two subjects in the car on the driveway. The car turned out to be a red Chevy Impala.

Police checked the interior of the house, and immediately had one subject in custody, but another subject fled westbound and then southbound. The subject was described as a male/Hispanic about 5’2″ thin build, wearing a white T-shirt and blue shorts. At about 12:05 a.m. the subject eluded police on foot and was last seen at Kingfisher and Martin running westbound. Police learned from subjects that the fleeing subject may have been armed with a handgun.

Arlington Heights police responded about 12:10 a.m. Wednesday with a K-9 unit and additional police officers. The K-9 unit tracked south from Martin and Oriole, and also along Kingfisher Lane.

A weapon was found inside the house. Police were checking whether it was a pellet gun or handgun.

Police found an open car door in the 2200 block of Martin Lane. Police also received a report that a subject was sitting near a garage on Kingfisher Lane wearing all black. The subject also jumped a fence heading east on Kingfisher Lane.

There was no word on capture or arrest of the fleeing subject overnight.

Police ordered a tow for the Chevy Impala they found parked on the driveway. The vehicle was towed to a police holding area. Rolling Meadows police also ordered a board-up service to secure the house on Kirchoff.
