#ad▼

Mount Prospect firefighter/paramedics and police responded about 9:15 p.m. Thursday to a house fire in the 600 block of North Elmhurst Avenue. People called in to report flames were visible from the house. All people were evacuated before rescuers arrived. Police arrived first and reported a working fire at the home, and that a dog was still inside the house.

Arlington Heights, Des Plaines, Glenview, Prospect Heights and Rolling Meadows were called in to assist Mount Prospect firefighters to either assist at the scene or standby to cover the remainder of Mount Prospect.

The fire was struck out by 9:30 p.m. after rapid response. No word available on the outcome of the search for the dog at the home. No injuries reported.

While firefighters were working at the scene, a resident from the 500 block of North Russel Street approached a police officer and reported that the power just came on in the neighborhood … and that when it was restored, sparks came out of her outlets at her house. An engine company crew from the house fire on Elmhurst Avenue was released and responded to check on the house on North Russel Street.

The 600 block of Elmhurst Avenue and the 500 block of North Russel Street were included in the tornado path that was identified yesterday by investigators with the National Weather Service. Both blocks were at the end of the approximately 2.3-mile path from Golf Road to just south of Kensington Road (See The Cardinal Mount Prospect EF-1 Tornado Path 8:48 PM June 21, 2011).
