DUI Crash Near Patton School, Arrest for DUI, Heroin Possession

Arlington Heights police responded about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday to a report of vehicle that hit a parked SUV with the offending vehicle still on the the scene. Police arrived to find a 30-year-old Wheeling man that was apparently driving under the influence — the man admitted taking prescription medication and drinking beer. The man was also discovered in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

In addition to a charge of aggravated DUI, the man was charged with driving on a revoked license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was also cited for improper traffic lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. His court date is June 2, 2011 at 9:00 a.m.

The man was transported in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters. His gray Toyota Corolla was towed to a police holding area with front end damage and a blown out front left tire. The parked white Ford Expedition that was hit had minor right front damage.
