Some fans took out their frustration on Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler by burning his jersey in the parking lots outside Soldier Field and at other locations.

Fox Sports Jimmy Johnson said he needs an “attitude adjustment.”

Fox Sports Howie Long said playing QB is more than just pure athleticism — it requires being a leader, and Cutler’s not doing it.

Some NFL players questioned Cutler’s toughness on Twitter during the game, and ESPN analyst and former Super Bowl-winning QB Trent Dilfer called him out after the game.

Even though the Green Bay Packers beat the Chicago Bears Sunday and are the ones heading to the Super Bowl…much of the talk has been about the Bears. More specifically about the Bears quarterback Jay Cutler not finishing the game.

Green Bay Packers defensive tackle B. J. Raji defended Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler Monday.

Chicago Bears Coach Lovie Smith defended Cutler …

“Maybe that’s the perception. For the people who have been around here, when you’re trying to decide whether Jay Cutler is a tough guy or not, think about what he’s gone through. This guy took a lot of shots throughout; was sacked a lot of times, had a concussion, came back from that. I don’t think anybody’s questioning his toughness.

Cutler “hurt his knee — kept playing. It’s not like he came out right when he hurt his knee. He kept playing. In the end, we had to make the decision — the medical staff and all of us had to — when we just didn’t think he could do the job. It’s not like he was trying to get out of it.”

— Lovie Smith

Brian Urlacher defended his quarterback, too …

Jay was hurt. I don’t question his toughness. He’s tough as hell. He’s one of the toughest guys on our football team.

Third-stringer Caleb Hanie rallied the Bears in a game they would eventually lose 21-14. Maybe it’s just a trick of perception, but Hanie seemed better and more fit for the job than Cutler did before he was hurt.
