Incendiary Device at Washington D.C. Postal Distribution Center

A package addressed to Secretary of Department of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano was reported ignited in the northeast area of Washington D.C. in a government mail room about 3:50 p.m. ET. The facility is located in the 3300 block of V Street Northeast.

The incident occurred one day after two devices ignited in mail rooms in Maryland.

One confirmed suspicious package, one package ignited and one additional package being examined.

V Street NE is shut down between 33rd Street and South Dakota Avenue.

There was an Anthrax scare at the same facility in January 2003.
