Chicago Fire Department responded to a house explosion with no fire near the intersection of 122nd and Ada Street in the West Pullman neighborhood. The house explosion is reported to have leveled the house, and was felt up to 20 blocks away.
Three victims reported transported to hospitals. One of the victims was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, while two other victims were transported to MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island. Two of the victims were teens that live next-door to the leveled house.
A lot of debris blown into trees above, and onto the roofs of homes next-door. Windows next-door were also shattered.
Chicago Fire Department has responded with a Collapse Response technical rescue team, a HazMat Level I response, and an EMS Plan I, which brings five rescue-ambulances to the scene.

A gas leak is suspected to have caused the explosion, so far. Gas concentration can be so high that there is not enough oxygen to sustain flames. One firefighter called the situation with the gas “not rich enough” or “not lean enough” to actually create a fire.
