Miner Rescue: Tense Final Hours Ahead for Chilean Miners

The tension is building for 33 trapped Chilean miners and their families. With all eyes on Chile’s effort to make sure that all of the miners are soon lifted to safety, the miners’ physical and mental health is being fastidiously monitored. Reinforcing the rescue hole with casing is key.

Engineers in Chile have successfully tested the Phoenix a thin steel tube capsule that will bring 33 trapped miners to the surface and can move forward with the rescue from the remote gold and copper mine on schedule, according to a statement made by officials on Monday, October 11, 2010.
