Mount Prospect rocker Lee DeWyze is only two weeks away from getting a hometown celebration after Wednesday’s vote on “American Idol.”

Lee DeWyze, Aaron Kelly and Crystal Bowersox learned they were safe at the halfway point of American Idol, leaving Michael Lynche, Casey James and Siobhan Magnus to work to earn their futures for the remainder of the program.

Magnus was sent home while James and Lynche held for the program. So the top 5 are Lee DeWyze, Aaron Kelly and Crystal Bowersox, and Michael Lynche, Casey James.

Eccentric glass blower Siobhan Magnus is the latest contestant to be voted off Fox’s ‘American Idol.’ Wednesday’s show also saw performances from Rascal Flatts, Lady Antebellum and Shakira.

Next week, Harry Connick Jr. mentors the group through Frank Sinatra songs on Tuesday before the group is voted down to four contestants on Wednesday.

If DeWyze makes it to the top three, he’ll return to Mount Prospect for a hometown celebration in Mount Prospect with a Fox Network parade and possibly a DeWyze concert in mid-May.

DeWyze and the rest of the American Idol Top 10 contestants will return to the United Center on August 30 for a concert. The American Idol Top 10 group will also play at Summerfest in Milwaukee on July 2, 2010.
