Stolen Auto at Gatsby’s: Black & Gold Alpha Taxi Recovered, Suspect Caught

Arlington Heights police received a report about 1:50 a.m. Friday from Gatsby’s, 400 block East Rand Road. An offender stole a black and gold Alpha Taxi (#115) — a Ford Crown Victoria 4-door.

The taxi was last seen from the crime scene headed westbound on Palatine Road. The offender was described as a male/white, about 25 years-old, 5′ 10″ 180 LBS with black hair and possibly a beard. He was wearing a Bears jacket, a lime green T-shirt and jeans.

About 2:10 a.m. police got a call that another Alpha taxi driver was following the stolen taxi, eastbound on Palatine Road passing Route 83. The offender was reported to have dumped the taxi at Baymont Inn & Suites on the 1600 block of Milwaukee Avenue in Glenview.

Arlington Heights police had one male in custody just before 2:30 a.m. Friday. The suspect was transported to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters just after 2:45 a.m. Friday.
