Plane Crash Press Conference 4PM Update at River Road and Pin Oak Drive

Press Conference update just after 4:00 p.m. at the River Road staging area for the Lear Jet crash recovery operations.

MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) CEO Jay Reardon, Village of Glenview Fire Chief Wayne Globerger, and Chicago Executive Airport Manager Dennis Rouleau provide statements and answer questions to Chicago media at press conference update just after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday.

At the time the spokesmen announced that the debris was scattered in one or two debris fields, that part of the broken fuselage was underwater, and that a pilot and co-pilot were killed. Reardon announced that the scene is secure. Dennis Rouleau also announced that the aircraft is generally a reliable aircraft and that the flight was an on demand to pickup cargo from Chicago Executive Airport and forward the cargo to Atlanta.

The crash site, according to experts familiar with the scene, is reported to be a difficult site to manage because it is not directly accessible by heavy equipment, conditions at the river bank are slippery and frozen, hazardous fuel is leaking in the area, and that parts of the wreckage are underwater.
