Hanover Park Fire Department responded to one-vehicle minivan accident on the Elgin-O’Hare Expressway, just east of Lake Street in Hanover Park. The minivan was westbound on the Elgin-O’Hare about 6:00 p.m. when the vehicle went out of control and rolled over. During the rollover, a 13-year-old boy was ejected through a window, and then trapped and killed under the weight of the minivan. The identity of the boy has not been released.

Four adults with apparent non-life-threatening injuries were transported to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. The adults in the minivan — all Chicago residents — have been identified as Marissa Vega, 32 (driver and mother of the boy killed), Nimia Vega, 61, Victor Vega, 33, and Antonio Flores, 53.

Bartlett Fire Department paramedics and Roselle Fire Department paramedics responded to the mutual aid request for Hanover Park Fire Department. The eastbound Elgin-O’Hare expressway begins at Lake Street and westbound ends at Lake Street (U.S. Route 20).
