Two Girls on E-Bike Hit on Milwaukee Ave; One of the Girls Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries in Libertyville Crash

Police, firefighters and paramedics from Libertyville responded about 9:08 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2026 to a report of a traffic crash involving a motor vehicle and an E-bike at a report of a crash with injuries in the area of Milwaukee Avenue and Winchester Road in Libertyville.

Upon arrival, police, firefighters and paramedics discovered that two 15 year-old girls on the E-bike were injured. Both girls were transported by paramedics to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center. One girl was transported and treated at Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Liberyville, and then transported to Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago with life-threatening injuries. The other girl was treated for non-life threatening injuries Condell.

The driver of the Chevrolet Blazer had no reported injuries.

According to the Libertyville Police Department, the preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Blazer, driven by an adult male, was traveling northbound on Milwaukee Avenue and was proceeded through the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and Winchester Road on a green light. The Chevrolet Blazer struck two girls on an E-bike that was eastbound crossing Milwaukee Avenue, just north of the intersection. Two 15-year-old girls were riding the E-bike.

For the purposed of traffic control, an Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) box alarm was activated and traffic on Milwaukee Avenue was diverted around the crash scene with assistance from the Mundelein Police Department, Lake Forest Police Department, Vernon Hills Police Department, Wauconda Police Department and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Following the on-scene crash investigation by the Libertyville Police Department and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (Lake County MCAT), the traffic crash is continuing.

The identities of the juveniles are not being released, according to the Libertyville Police Department.
