Arlington Heights police officers, just before 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2026, surrounded and converged at the Burger King, 675 East Rand Road in Arlington Heights to arrest a 27 year-old male, Jonathan D. Townsend, who was wanted for violation of bail bond.
Police were armed, raising non-lethal long guns, tasers, and at least one long gun, and a body shield when they entered the Burger King on Rand Road at the east end of Town & Country Center in Arlington Heights. When police entered the Burger King, they asked customers to leave the restaurant, and all customers hurried out of the Burger King. Also, when police entered the Burger King, they approached a male, who was wearing a boonie hat, a Dr. Pepper T-shirt, black sweatpants, white socks, and red Champion sandals. He was handcuffed inside the restaurant, and appeared to be projecting his breath toward one police officer, who blocked Townsend’s breath with his gloved hand.
Townsend was then transferred outside to an Arlington Heights Police Department SUV.
When police were searching Jonathan D. Townsend for weapons, he resisted by extending his leg around the rear passenger wheel of the police vehicle, and told police, “You want to suck my d*** while you’re at it?” and “Do it pu**y!”
Police were able place Townsend in the back of the police SUV without injury to Townsend or themselves.
Jonathan D. Townsend has a history of charges of Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Battery in Arlington Heights at Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 500 North Dunton Avenue, when he was arrested on Thursday, September 4, 2025. Townsend is 6’0″ 136 LBS.
Jonathan Townsend has a history of multiple failure to appear (FTA) records, according to Cook County court records.
His most recent charges were Obstructing Identification and Smoking on CTA — both on May 21, 2026 in Chicago (1st) Central jurisdiction.
Townsend’s most recent Warrant Issued for FTA was July 21, 2026. The arrest by Arlington Heights police officers on July 23, 2026 two days later effected the execution of the warrant on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 9:32 a.m.

Townsend’s next court date is Monday, July 27, 2026 at Cook County Circuit Court Branch 43, which is located at 3150 West Flournoy Street (Harrison and Kedzie) inside a Chicago Police Department facility.
In the police release provided, the Arlington Heights Police Department provided the arrest location as 635 East Rand Road in Arlington Heights, which is an open space between Burger King (675 East Rand Road) and Best Buy (615 East Rand Road), and was also a location where the police vehicle transporting Townsend paused for a couple of minutes.
