Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies, with the assistance of K9 Simba and K9 Lux, tracked down and arrested a burglary suspect following a series of vehicle burglaries Tuesday morning.
Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at approximately 5:30 a.m., responded to the 10000 block of West Ford Avenue in Beach Park after receiving reports that several unlocked vehicles had been burglarized. While deputies were investigating, one victim learned someone was attempting to use her stolen credit card at a gas station near Sheridan Road and Wadsworth Road in Beach Park.
Lake County Sheriff’s deputies immediately responded to the gas station, but learned the suspect had already fled on a bicycle after the stolen credit card was declined. Deputies obtained a description of the suspect and broadcast it to responding units.
A Lake County Sheriff’s drone was launched, and K9s Simba and Lux were deployed to search the area. After tracking for more than 30 minutes, K9 Simba located the suspect, Adam Turner, age 49, of no permanent address, hiding inside a culvert beneath a roadway. Turner was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Lake County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division.
During the investigation, sheriff’s detectives determined Turner was also responsible for a burglary that occurred on July 20, 2026, at a business in the 37700 block of North Sheridan Road in Beach Park.
After reviewing the facts and circumstances of the case, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the following charges against Turner:
Burglary (Class 2 Felony)
Five Counts of Burglary to Motor Vehicle (Class 3 Felonies)
Unlawful Possession of a Credit Card (Class 3 Felony)
Identity Theft (Class 3 Felony)
Two Counts of Theft (Class A Misdemeanors)
Six Counts of Criminal Trespass to Motor Vehicle (Class A Misdemeanors)
Criminal Damage to Property (Class A Misdemeanor)
Turner also had an active arrest warrant for:
2 Counts of Failure as a Sexual Offender to Change Address
1 Count of Living with 500 Feet of a School

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
