Police, firefighters and paramedics from Chicago responded about 11:00 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2026 “Juneteenth” to a report of a shooting near Princeton Avenue and 95th Street in Chicago, and discovered a mass shooting near the Big Boy Food Mart at the southeast corner, and boxes of fireworks staged by residents staged in the boulevard median where an impromptu fireworks outing had occurred.

Police, firefighters, and paramedics discovered 12 wounded victims of a mass shooting in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Chicago. Chicago police officers initially found a 32-year-old woman was shot in the back, and a 44-year-old man with graze wounds. Both were transported to local hospitals by Chicago Fire Department paramedics where they were listed in good condition. Also, a 26-year-old woman, who was shot, was listed in critical condition the University of Chicago Hospital “UChicago Medicine” Level 1 Trauma Center. Additional victims of the mass shooting transported to University of Chicago Medical Center, Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Trinity hospital, and possibly some other undisclosed hospitals, were listed in good condition.

Multiple gunshot victims were discovered at 95th Street and Wentworth Avenue, two blocks east of Princeton Avenue.

Later overnight, the Chicago Police Department confirmed that at least 12 people were shot with victim age range from 17 to 47 years-old (four females and eight males). A thirteenth victim was reported later Saturday morning.

The initial Chicago Police Department investigation indicates the driver of a red SUV drove up to a large group of people in the block of 200 West 95th Street just south of Chicago Housing Authority residences just after 11 p.m. Two people inside the red SUV began shooting into the crowd. Video captured from the scene by live CITIZENS APP users and a CapturedNews video stringer indicated over 100 evidence markers near the intersection of 95th Street and Princeton Avenue. CapturedNews video captured a casings marker #113.

Police and bystanders observed multiple shattered car windows and a bus stop shelter.
