The Arlington Heights Police Department reported an update Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. regarding an investigation of an attack of an 18 year-old woman by an unknown suspect. The Arlington Heights Police Department continues the investigation of an aggravated battery that occurred Sunday night, June 7, 2026, around 11:15pm near Lake Arlington, in the area of Windsor Drive and Jonquil Circle. Working with the victim, an Arlington Heights Police Department Forensic Composite Artist has developed a composite sketch of the suspect. The suspect is again described by the victim as a Black male, approximately 6 feet tall, with an average / muscular build, long braided hair that was tied back at the time of the attack, and circular framed glass. He was reportedly wearing all black clothing and observed by the victim riding a bicycle prior to the incident. Detectives continue an extensive canvas of the area for any surveillance footage which may have captured the offender before or after the attack. Detectives recovered a potential image of the offender from a business around the time of the attack. The image appears to show an individual, matching the description provided by the victim, riding a bicycle southbound on Buffalo Grove Road from Dundee Road, towards the area of Lake Arlington.

Anyone who recognizes the individual depicted in the composite sketch or surveillance image is asked to call 911 or contact the Arlington Heights Police Department at 847-368-5300. Detectives also encourage residents and businesses to review any surveillance footage from the late evening hours on June 7th, 2026 for any images that may assist the investigation. Because the suspect was traveling by bicycle, Detectives ask the public to consider reviewing footage even if their cameras are not located in the immediate vicinity of the attack.

The Arlington Heights Police Department also requests that community members share the attached composite sketch and surveillance image with family, friends and co-workers. Public tips remain a critical component of our investigation and all information received is carefully reviewed and evaluated by Detectives.

“The Arlington Heights Police Department remains committed to identifying and apprehending the individual responsible for this violent and unprovoked attack. Detectives will continue pursuing all available leads to bring justice to the victim and her family. Our thoughts remain with the
victim as she recovers and we commend her continued cooperation during this difficult process.

We are also grateful for the support of the community and valuable information that has been
provided since the incident was first reported.

To enhance public safety, the Police Department has increased proactive patrols in the Lake Arlington area. Officers will continue patrolling roadways, pedestrian/bicycle paths, and surrounding neighborhoods. Resident are encouraged to be aware of your surroundings, report any suspicious activity, and call 911 whenever they feel unsafe. The Arlington Heights Police Department is dedicated to serving and protecting the community and we appreciate the continued partnership and support of our residents and businesses as this investigation progresses.”
