Police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2026 after a police officer’s squad car was rear-ended by the driver of a white Volkswagen. The police officer was waiting at a stoplight in a southbound lane of Arlington Heights Road, just north of Eucld Avenue in Arlington Heights. People involved in the crash were assessed at the scene by paramedics, but it did not appear that there were any EMS transports to the hospital.
The police car sustained moderate to severe damage in the trunk area, and was towed to the public works facility in Arlington Heights.
Arlington Heights Road is a four-lane thoroughfare in Arlington Heights with two lanes southhbound and two lanes northbound separated by a painted double-yellow line median. The Speed Limit is 30 MPH, according to Google Maps Street View images captured July 2025. Both sides of Arlington Heights Road at the crash scene have curbs with sidewalks adjacent to the street curbs with no grass parkways separating motor vehicle traffic from pedestrian sidewalk traffic. The crash occurred in the block of 600 north Arlington Heights Road between Euclid Avenue and Hawthorne Street.
