A skydiver planned to glide into the Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium carrying a large American flag and land on the field pre-game at a Spring football game; but instead crashed into the top of the scoreboard and was suspended by the parachute until firefighters raised the main aerial of a tower ladder truck (Blacksburg Ladder 12) to rescue the parachutist.
Next, another ladder truck from the Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department was used to remove the flag and parachute that remained hanging from the scoreboard.
