The Palatine Police Department indicated the police activity was conducted during the morning hours.
Residents may have observed an increased police presence in the area during this time. However, the Palatine Police Department did not define a time range describing “this time” was. Additionally, the Palatine Police Department did not specifically mention whether the police activity had ended, but used past tense language describing the police activity.
According to the Palatine Police Department, the activity involved only local and regional law enforcement resources … presumably mentioning this to exclude ICE agent activity.

The suspect in Monday’s fatal shooting was believed to have been at large during the several days following Monday, March 16, 2026. The Palatine Police Department described “no known ongoing threat to the public at this time” the morning after the fatal shooting Monday night while the suspect was at large.
