Black Lives Matter Lake County founder and Executive Director Clyde McLemore is seeking a replacement after a video of an altercation of him with a female worker in October 2025 was exposed on social media and websites.
Black Lives Matter Lake County founder and Executive Director Clyde McLemore has claimed he plans to leave his position with the organization he founded 11 years ago. He claims he will leave as soon as he can find a replacement. A video showed a physical altercation he had with a female contractor showing the female contractor Nyesha Hill taking Clyde McLemore down to the floor several times while they grappled against a wall at the Lake County Resource Center in Waukegan.

Nyesha Hill, an independent contractor hired to pursue grants, has worked for Black Lives Matter since September 24, 2025 when the Lake County Black Lives Matter office opened. The surveillance video that captured their physical fight that occurred on Friday, October 24, 2025. The video captured Hill and McLemore grappling, pushing, and hitting each other several times in an office stairwell. Additionally, Nyesha Hill appeared to physically dominate McLemore, taking him down to the floor several times.
A Waukegan Police Department report includes reference to the video evidence, which includes the surveillance video and bodycam video.
Allegedly, another physical fight occurred on January 12, 2026 when Nyesha Hill demanded payment while she was with Clyde McLemore in McLemore’s office, where there are no surveillance cameras.
Allegedly, Hill told the Waukegan police officers that she had seen McLemore spending money allocated for Black Lives Matter on “girls” and “gambling”, according to a police report. McLemore claims his gambling expenses were paid by his personal funds.
