A Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) firefighter fell as he appeared to be attempting to move from the end of an aerial truck ladder to a ground ladder at the level of the top of a second floor while fighting a house fire in the Arlington Heights neighborhood in Central Los Angeles on Saturday evening, February 7, 2026. The ABC7 news anchor that covered the news story is Liz Nagy, who recently moved within ABC News from the Chicagoland market to the Los Angeles market.
Videos of the fire scene were posted on the Citizen app.
LAFD reported the firefighter only suffered a minor injury, and is expected to be OK.
The house fire broke out on the second story of a home on South Wilton Place just after 5 p.m.
LAFD firefighters worked swiftly, and extinguished the fire in about 20 minutes to extinguish the flames.
No other homes were damaged in the fire, and no other injuries were reported.
Arlington Heights is a neighborhood of about 22,000 people in west central Los Angeles about half way between downtown Los Angeles and Beverly Hills.
