Facts Update Statement from DHS Secretary Kristi Noem Friday Evening …

At 10:25 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2026 ICE personnel were carrying out lawful operations in Minneapolis. Because of adverse weather, one of the ICE vehicles became stuck in the snow. Law enforcement officers were attempting to push out the vehicle when a mob of agitators that were harassing them all day began blocking them in, shouting at them, and impeding law enforcement operations. ICE agents approached the vehicle of the individual in question, who was blocking in the officers with her vehicle. She had been stalking and impeding the work of the ICE officers all day. ICE agents repeatedly ordered her to get out of the car, and to stop obstructing law enforcement, but she refused to obey their commands. She then proceeded to weaponize her vehicle, and she attempted to run a law enforcement officer over. It does appear as an attempt to kill or cause bodily harm to agents — an act of domestic terrorism. The ICE officer fearing for his life and the (lives of) other officers around him, and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots. He used his training to save his own life and the lives of his colleagues. He was treated at a local hospital and is now released, and is now with family.

Kristi Noem encouraged the American people at this point in time to pray for him, but to also pray for the deceased’s family and her loved ones. On Wednesday in the United States there have been four different domestic terrorist attacks on federal officers by the ramming of vehicles — three of them happened in Minneapolis. Over 100 of these vehicle rammings have happened in recent weeks. ICE is facing a 1300% increase in assaults against them, and an 8000% increase in death threats against them.

The officer involved in the vehicle ramming today was dragged by an anti-ICE rioter, who rammed him and dragged him, back in June 2025 in Minneapolis.

VIDEOS …
A witness shared this video to Max Nesterak showing an ICE officer shooting a driver in a Honda Pilot SUV in south Minneapolis (00:04:26) …

An elevated video from down the street shows the ICE agent pushed back by the front of the forward moving Honda Pilot, captures audio of 3 shots fired, shows the SUV travel down Portland Avenue, and then partially shows the impact with a parked car and then a wooden light pole (00:00:34)…

According to witnesses and available video law enforcement, drivers of a Nissan Titan and a Chevrolet Suburban stopped near a dark red Honda Pilot driven by a 37 year-old woman that was attempting to block Portland Avenue or was attempting to turn her vehicle around in front of 3328 Portland Avenue. The woman had disobeyed orders to get out of her vehicle as she appeared to be turning around to change her direction on Portland Avenue between 33rd Street and 34th Street south of downtown Minneapolis. An ICE agent was standing directly in front of her SUV, and another ICE agent, who had attempted to open her driver’s side door was standing near her open window of the driver’s side door. The wheels of the SUV were initially turned left and the woman drove a short distance in reverse. Then she drove forward and turned her wheels to the right. As she drove the SUV forward in the direction of the ICE agent that was standing in front of her SUV, her wheels were turned to the right as if she was attempting to flee to the officer’s left, and continue south down Portland Avenue. In the split second that the SUV began to move forward, the ICE agent standing in front of the SUV likely could not have known whether her intention was to run him over, or flee to his left. The ICE agent shot three times — once through the front windshield, and twice through the driver’s side open window. In another video, it appears that he was pushed back by the SUV, or that he suddenly had to pull himself back to get out of the way of the SUV.

Additionally, it can be learned from this situation that a person that is fatally shot while driving a vehicle very likely would have a dead foot on the accelerator, and therefore the vehicle will not stop, as was seen after the shooting today when the SUV continued south down Portland Avenue, struck a parked white Toyota Corolla, then struck a wood light pole. The revving engine sound in the Honda Pilot, indicated the woman was apparently unresponsive or dead in the driver’s seat already. Portland Avenue is a southbound one-way street. Initially, it was unknown if she was going northbound on a southbound one-way street or blocking the road intentionally, but the earliest video shows her SUV perpendicular in the center of Portland Avenue.

The female shooting victim, identified as Renee Nicole Good, 37, lived in the Twin Cities with her partner, according to the The Minnesota Star Tribune, was described as a “legal observer” in a protest statement by United States Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.

“ICE’s actions today were unconscionable and reprehensible. I am beyond outraged that their reckless, callous actions led to the killing of a legal observer in Minneapolis. My heart breaks for the victim’s family, who will have to forever live with the pain caused by the Trump Administration’s reckless and deadly actions.

This administration has shown, yet again, that it does not care about the safety of Minnesotans. Instead of protecting our communities, they are unleashing violence–terrorizing neighborhoods and now killing a civilian. For weeks, ICE’s so-called ‘Operation Metro Surge’ has spread fear, chaos, and violence across our state.

This is not law enforcement. It is state violence. It is simply indefensible, and ICE must be held accountable. That must include a full, comprehensive investigation and legal action against the agency.”

— Rep. Ilhan Omar

Following is the statement from Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant Secretary Department of Homeland Security …

Today, ICE officers in Minneapolis were conducting targeted operations when rioters began blocking ICE officers and one of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them—an act of domestic terrorism.

An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots.

He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers.

The alleged perpetrator was hit and is deceased. The ICE officers who were hurt are expected to make full recoveries.

This is the direct consequence of constant attacks and demonization of our officers by sanctuary politicians who fuel and encourage rampant assaults on our law enforcement. These men and women who are simply enforcing the law on the books are facing 1,300% increase in assaults against them and an 8,000% increase in death threats.

This is an evolving situation, and we will give the public more information as soon as it becomes available.

VIDEO shows woman who rushed to check on Renee Nicole Good after she was shot and crashed, and told a bystander, “That’s my wife.”
