Barrington police officers responded about 5:00 a.m. Sunday, December 28, 2025 to a report of a disturbance in front of Restyle Designers Barrington, 121 South Cook Street in downtown Barrington. A resident living above the luxury resale boutique – consignment business contacted the police department after hearing multiple male subjects yelling loudly outside, and after witnessing two vehicles speed away from the scene.
Upon arriving at the location, police officers discovered that the front door of Restyle Designers had been forcibly opened, and contacted the business owner. The business owner responded to the scene, and provided police officers with surveillance footage that captured the crime. The video captured images of six unidentified individuals entering the store after the door was forced open, according to the Barrington Police Department. Some or all of the burglars were young male/black adults. The suspects can be seen grabbing multiple items from the shelves, each offender filling dark garbage bags they were each holding. There is shouting, possibly by a leader of the mob. The offenders were inside the store for less than one minute and about 15 seconds.
The total value of the stolen items was not immediately determined. Items listed at the store include brand names, such as Balenciaga, Gucci, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, and Prada with the more expensive items ranging from $1,000 to $4,200.
Barrington Police Department detectives have initiated an active investigation, and are working to identify the suspects involved in the burglary. Anyone with information regarding the incident or the suspects is encouraged to contact Det. Gruenthal at (847) 304-3334.
