Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives located and arrested a Beach Park resident who committed a home invasion in Beach Park on Thursday night, January 8, 2026.
Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded on January 8, 2026, at approximately 8:05 p.m., to a manufactured home in the 38200 block of Sheridan Road, Beach Park, for a home invasion. Sheriff’s deputies arrived and found a 67-year-old victim with serious wounds to the face and body. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was subsequently treated and released for his injuries.
The victim didn’t report all the facts of the home invasion. The victim reported he was at his home, when a previous neighbor, later identified as Brian Wisch, 47, no permanent address, broke into his home, by forcing entry through a glass storm door, and he was armed with a firearm. Wisch demanded money and obtained several hundred dollars from the victim. The victim said Wisch then began striking him with his pistol in the face and body, before fleeing.
Sheriff’s deputies searched the area for Wisch, but were unable to locate him. On January 9, 2026, sheriff’s detectives located Wisch at a business in the 16400 block of Russell Road, Wadsworth. When detectives located Wisch, they learned he had a gunshot wound to the stomach. He was transported to an area hospital, treated and released.
Sheriff’s detectives learned Wisch was shot by the victim during the home invasion, as the victim retrieved a firearm and shot him during the incident. After being shot, Wisch began fighting the victim, wrestled the victim’s firearm from the victim, and struck the victim several times in the face and body with the victim’s own firearm. Wisch then fled on foot. Sheriff’s detectives recovered both firearms.
Sheriff’s detectives learned the victim was selling drugs out of his residence, and they obtained a search warrant. During the execution of the warrant, detectives recovered nearly two pounds of cocaine and approximately $500,000 in U.S. currency.
After reviewing the facts and circumstances of the incident, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the following charges against Wisch:
Three Counts of Home Invasion (Class X Felonies)
Two Counts of Armed Robbery (Class X Felonies)
Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3 Felony)
Drug-related charges against the victim are likely in the future.
Sheriff John D. Idleburg said, “This case highlights the exceptional work of our Criminal Investigations Division. Through focused, diligent investigative efforts, our investigators quickly identified the suspect and uncovered critical evidence that revealed a much more complex situation, including the recovery of both firearms used in the incident, and a significant amount of illegal drugs and currency.”
Wisch remains held in the Lake County Jail pending an initial court hearing this morning. The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office intends to file a petition to detain Wisch in custody pending trial.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
