11034 S State St Jan 6 2:00:36 AM CST
Police, firefighters and paramedics from Chicago responded just before 1:25 a.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2026 to a report of a house fire on State Street near 110th Place, Chicago. Engine 62’s crew was first on the scene. Truck 27 was at the front of the building with Engine 62. Firefighters on arrival discovered a two story house on fire with fire in the rear of the house at the southwest corner of State Street and 110th Pl. across the street from a U.S. Post Office.
Upon arrival, the firefighters also noticed a for sale sign in front of the house, and initially thought the house was vacant. However, during a routine emergency search of the house, firefighters found a victim on the first floor, and rescued him out of the house about 1:37 a.m. CPR was administered, and the male patient was transported to University of Chicago Medical Center for treatment.
Battalion 22 was in command, and initially the fire was fought defensively until firefighters could safely enter the building to fight the fire interior; that’s when the victim was discovered. Battalion 19 was commander of RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) with Truck 62, but was switched to Safety Chief. Battalion Chief 21 was then assigned the RIT Chief.
At least three ambulances were assigned to the scene.
There were two lines on the fire. At times the fire was through the roof with parts of the structure collapsed.
The fire department response was elevated to a Still and Box Alarm when heavy fire developed on the second floor and attic space at about 1:44 a.m.. After the fire was extinguished, the fire incident was struck out about 2:30 a.m.
