Police and firefighters, and paramedics from Roselle responded about 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2026 to a report of a house fire in the block of 100 Long Avenue in unincorporated Schaumburg.
The home was full of smoke when the firefighters arrived. Crews made entry with hose lines and initiated an aggressive interior fire attack. While searching for the fire, one responding firefighter fell through the floor, but was immediately rescued by other crew members and examined by EMS. The firefighter did not sustain injuries. Crews brought the fire under control shortly after the fall occurred.
No one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
