
Downers Grove Police have arrested Nedas Revuckas, age 19, of the block of 1400 Spruce Lane, Westmont, and charged him with First Degree Murder and other charges after a 30 year-old woman was found dead with multiple stab wounds in Downers Grove.
Downers Grove police, firefighters and paramedics responded about 6:09 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2026, at 6:09 p.m., to a structure fire in an apartment building located in the block of 2300 Ogden Avenue. The Downers Grove Fire Department firefighters removed one victim from the building. The victim, a 30 year-old pregnant woman, who suffered apparent sharp force trauma, was treated by paramedics and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The female victim was identified as Eliza Morales, age 30, of the block of 2300 Ogden Avenue, Downers Grove. The cause of death will be determined by the DuPage County Coroner’s Office.
A second person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital.
The Downers Grove Fire Department was assisted by firefighter from Westmont, Lisle-Woodridge, Darien-Woodridge, Lombard, Naperville, and Bolingbrook fire departments and fire districts.
The investigation is being managed by the Downers Grove Police Department, DuPage County MERIT Task Force, DuPage County Arson Task Force, and the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal.
The crime occurred after the suspect bought a truck from Eliza Morales and her husband via Facebook Marketplace on January 24, 2026. License plates were inadvertently left on the truck after the sale, and arrangements were made for the suspect to return the license plates to Eliza Morales while she happened to be home alone at the apartment on January 26, 2026. Eliza Morales was allegedly stabbed 70 times by the suspect during that encounter, and succumbed to her injuries, along with her unborn child. The suspect also stabbed the family dog, but the dog escaped and survived.
On Tuesday afternoon, January 27, 2026, the Downers Grove Police Department announced that a person of interest was in custody.

First Degree Murder – Forcible Felony – Armed Robbery (Class M),
First Degree Murder – Forcible Felony – Aggravated Arson (Class M),
Intentional Homicide of an Unborn Child (Class M),
Armed Robbery (Class X),
Aggravated Arson (Class X), and
Aggravated Cruelty to Animals (Class 4).
Revuckas was be transported to the DuPage County Jail and will attend first appearance court for a detention hearing on January 28, 2026. Additional details regarding the allegations will be shared at the first appearance hearing.
