Alfredo Briseno, charged with First Degree Murder, has been ordered detained in the Cook County Department of Corrections following the murder of his ex-girlfriend Jenny Rodriguez. Details of the murder, which was captured on surveillance video in Schaumburg Town Square, were detailed in court today, Thursday, December 18, 2025 by the Prosecution.

The defendant and victim had a dating relationship since April 2025 until the night of December 15, 2025, when the victim, Jenny Rodriguez, ended the relationship. The victim told multiple friends that she had ended the relationship, and then the defendant, Alfredo Briseno, appeared uninvited at a club, where he recorded her without her consent, and left a voicemail that he wanted to reconcile.

On the morning of the murder, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the victim drove alone to the F45 Personal Training gym located in a strip mall in the Schaumburg Town Square. F45 is located just west of the Bonefish Grill where a parking lot is shared with these two businesses and other business. Only F45 was open for business at the time of the murder.

The murder of Jenny Rodriguez was captured from multiple surveillance cameras in the strip mall. The victim was registered for a 5:15 a.m. fitness class at F45 training, and arrived at 5:10 a.m. in her Range Rover. At 5:12 a.m., the defendant arrived in a blue Mazda, and parked immediately near the victim’s Range Rover in the south parking lot. The defendant exited his vehicle and approached the front passenger window of the Range Rover. At 5:13 a.m. the defendant entered the front passenger seat of the Range Rover. In the next few minutes, the Range Rover was captured on video moving in reverse from the parking space, and then traveling slowly to the exit of the parking lot. The vehicle was then stopped near a stop sign. Minutes later the driver, Jenny Rodriguez, exited the driver’s side door and stumbled before falling to the ground. The victim then attempted to run in the parking lot while screaming for help. The defendant exited from the passenger side of the vehicle, and proceeded toward the victim. The defendant then pushed the victim, causing both of them to fall to the ground. The defendant attempted to turn the victim over while she was face down. The defendant then repeatedly lunged his arm toward the victim while she tried to get up. The defendant used his body weight to restrain the victim.

The assault continued for approximately 1:30 seconds.

Meanwhile, a witness, who was north of the scene, heard the victim screaming for help. The witness got out of his car and approached to find the defendant on top of the victim, engaged in the physical struggle. The witness returned to his car, and called 9-1-1. The witness remained on the scene and remained on the 9-1-1 call until police arrived.

The defendant then dragged the victim to the rear driver’s side of the Range Rover. The defendant then appeared to open the passenger side rear door of her Range Rover. The victim was observed falling near the rear driver’s side of the vehicle with the defendant standing next to her. Next, police vehicles were captured on video approaching the scene.

At approximately 5:26 a.m., police officers arrived on scene. Police officers observed the vehicle stopped near the stop sign with the vehicle running and both the driver’s side front door and rear door open. No occupants were inside the vehicle.

The victim was found lying on her back with torn clothing and heavy bleeding from her face and chest. The defendant was standing directly behind the victim, and his hands and clothing were covered with blood. He was wearing only socks and no shoes. Police discovered a knife in the rear seat of the car near a child car seat.

The victim stated she cannot breathe, and appeared to be choking on blood. The victim was transported by Schaumburg Fire Department paramedic ambulance to St. Alexius Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased at 5:52 a.m.

The defendant complained of pain to his temple, and was transported to the hospital in a second ambulance. The defendant informed medical personnel that he fell on his head. He was observed with open cuts on his hands.

An autopsy of Jenny Rodriguez was conducted, and the cause of death was determined to be multiple injuries due to assault, and the manner of death was homicide.

The victim sustained over a dozen stab wounds, including fatal stab wounds to the neck. Additional injuries included a punctured stomach, fractured ribs and multiple defensive wounds.

Regarding the criminal background of Alfredo Briseno, he had an order of protection in 2020 from an incident involving his now ex-wife, when he grabbed his wife’s face and neck, attempting to get her to unlock her phone. He grabbed her and threw her to the floor. Her head hit an ottoman as she fell. The victim was able to flee to the bathroom, and tried to call 9-1-1 from her Apple iPad, but the defendant had turned off the Wi-Fi. In her petition for the Order of Protection, she stated she feared for her safety, and feared that the defendant would hurt her again.

Pre-trial release was denied, as the State’s petition for pre-trial detention was granted.

The next trial for Alfredo Briseno was schedule for January 28, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. in Room 108.

A passerby told CARDINAL NEWS that police officers seemed to be giving first aid, possibly CPR, to a woman on the ground. During the investigation in daylight, there was an Ambu-Bag (EMS airway ventilation device) and tubing visible on the ground near driver’s side of the Range Rover, which indicates Advance Life Support medical treatment was likely used to attempt to save the woman’s life. Initially, the Cook County Medical Examiners Office did not indicate the cause of death, and the Schaumburg Police Department did not indicate if a weapon was involved.

Later in the day, Schaumburg Police Department released the identity of the female victim as Jenny Rodriguez, age 37, of Des Plaines. The victim’s family was notified and offered additional assistance, according to the Schaumburg Police Department.

Another person that was in the area told CARDINAL NEWS that he heard a woman’s voice screaming for help and “other muffled sounds” around 5:25 a.m., but he “didn’t know where the screaming was coming from” and he didn’t see anything. Jenny Rodriguez was likely in a white Range Rover that was facing south when she was attacked. The Range Rover was parked southbound in the parking lot in front of Bonefish Grill near the driveway to Roselle Road that is located between Bonefish Grill and the Wells Fargo Bank.

It is unknown if any businesses were open that early in the morning, although there is a personal training business located in the strip mall where Bonefish Grill is located.

During the day Tuesday, Schaumburg police were investigating the Range Rover and a gray Mazda CX-50 that was parked facing north about 40 yards northwest of the Range Rover. Both vehicles had Chicago Cubs stylized Illinois license plates.

There was a child’s car seat installed in the back of the Range Rover, and a purse or handbag in the front seat. Also, there were Uggs boots or Uggs-like boots on the ground on the parking lot surface near the driver’s side of the Range Rover. A black shoe and white socks were also on the ground near the driver’s side of the Range Rover.

The Schaumburg Police Department did not indicate whether the person in custody was a suspect, and stated that charges were not anticipated Tuesday night. The identity of the male in custody was also not released by police. There appeared to be security cameras that could have captured images of the crime; however, it is initially unknown if the cameras were operating and recording. There are several businesses and facilities located nearby, including Tony’s Fresh Market, the Schaumburg Township District Library, and the Trickster Cultural Center.

According to the Schaumburg Police Department, the preliminary investigation indicates this was a domestic-related incident, the victim and the person in custody knew each other, and that the case was an isolated incident with no threat to the public.

There was a large police presence in the area. Schaumburg police described the investigation as an active investigation.
