Police, firefighters and paramedics from Chicago responded about 5:03 a.m. Sunday, November 23, 2025 to a report of a vacant house fire in the block of 600 West 62nd Street in Chicago. A CITIZEN app report indicated the fire was on 61st Place.
Battalion Chief 19 reported a fire on the second floor of a boarded up, vacant house — a two-story frame, 25 feet by 50 feet.
Engine 84 and Truck 20 and other crew apparatus were in the street near the front of the building.
The main body of fire was knocked from the outside while in defensive mode. Two lines at the front and left side of the house and a third line was led out to rear of the house from the outside by about 5:18 a.m.
Battalion Chief 19 reported one injured firefighter was transported Code Yellow in Ambulance 36 to University of Chicago Hospital.
